To us at Studio 1988, Architecture and Interior Design aren’t just tools to create habitable spaces, but a means to tell stories - Of want & desire, Of dreams of the future driven by the experiences of the past, Of the different social conditions that make up the world around us.
We seek to unearth and involve ourselves in the journeys that these stories represent. We treat every project as a unique endeavour to explore the possibilities of materiality and detail to generate spaces that are expressions of the stories that they are born from.
Since it’s inception in 2022, the firm has worked on projects in the Hospitality & Residential sectors, with a methodology that seeks to provide bespoke solutions to each project while still reflective of the various conditions that define each one.

Sudarshan Venkatraman
Founder & Principal Architect
Sudarshan completed his Undergraduate studies in Bengaluru in 2010, followed by a Master’s Degree from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation, Columbia University in 2014.
Prior to founding Studio 1988, Sudarshan accumulated 10 years of work experience at award winning firms such as Sameep Padora & Associates and Serie Architects in Mumbai as well as ODA in New York. Over the years, Sudarshan has gained experience in designing and executing various mid to large scale projects in multiple sectors ranging from Residential to Hospitality & Commercial projects.
Sudarshan also spends time at his alma mater - R.V. College of Architecture, Bengaluru, where he is a Visiting Faculty member.
